The Headmaster of Big Six Educational Complex in Meduma in the Ashanti region has been arrested and granted bail following allegations that he prevented two students from writing their first paper in the ongoing 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The arrest occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, after reports emerged that the headmaster had confined the two candidates to a room on Monday, June 16, for allegedly owing school fees and failing to attend a pre-exam camp organised by the school.
The affected students were scheduled to write their Mathematics paper at Simms High School, the designated examination centre for some candidates in the Kwabre East Municipality. However, they reportedly missed the paper due to the headmaster’s actions.
The Ghana Police Service has launched a formal investigation into the matter, while the Kwabre East Municipal Education Directorate has initiated a separate probe to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
