In a high-stakes, tactical battle in Kansas City, Colombia booked the final spot in the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 with a hard-fought 1–0 victory over Ghana.
The match swung decisively in the 14th minute. After an early injury forced striker Jhon Córdoba off, substitute Luis Suárez made an instant impact by picking out Jhon Arias, who smashed a brilliant volley past Lawrence Ati-Zigi.
Ghana fought bravely to break through Colombia's resolute defensive lines but struggled to find a clinical edge, failing to register a shot on target. Colombia now advances to face Switzerland.
